Ntozake Sheppard is a fun and loving early child development teacher. She is a very passionate and unique
individual. Her strong love and appreciation for children began at a very young age, when she started
babysitting for her parent’s friends and other relatives. This later led her to pursue an academic career in Early
Child Development at California State University of Los Angeles. During her academic career she realized that
her heart was really set on helping children. She aspires to help guide young children to be the best they can be
no matter what obstacles that they have to go through in life.
Ntozake believes that children learn best when they have a relation to, or have a connection with, the
curriculum. Therefore, a curriculum that is developed from a multicultural point of view will be attractive and
enriching to the students. Ntozake loves to share her talents in arts and crafts, dance, and theater with children
that she comes into contact with. On her free time she enjoys exploring the outdoors with friends and family. As
well as helping plan events at her aunts restaurant, Tassilis Raw Reality. Ntozake also teaches an African-
Caribbean dance class to both children and adults weekly at her aunts restaurant.
The love and passion that Ntozake has for children helps her guide children in a very creative and energetic
method to explore and use their environment to develop. Seeing the joyful expressions of children’s faces is
what encourages her to continue this journey in child development. She is a vegan-vegetarian that loves sharing
her beliefs about healthy nutrition and lifestyle with both children and adults.
