- 06PICK UP Parents/guardians must ○ Check the child out using BrightWheel ○ Accompany their child out of the building/to their car. Kirkwood Parking: Please do not use the drive of 2048 Hosea to park or drive on at all, when parking for the building that houses our infants. It does not belong to SoulShine and we will be fined for usage. If a child will be picked up by persons other than the parent/guardian. Children will only be released to parents or to those individuals listed on the Child’s Personal Record as people authorized to pick up and/or emergency contacts. (see Absence Policy below). If a person other than a parent/guardian or other authorized individual will be picking up a child, written/emailed notification including the individual’s full name is required. Picture identification will be required such as a driver’s license. SoulShine reserves the right to refuse the release of a child to an individual who has insufficient identification or appears impaired. LATE PICK UP FINES Parents/guardians who pick up their children after 6:05 PM are considered late. If you are going to be late for any reason, contact SoulShine at 678-221-4792 as soon as possible. After 6:05 PM, individuals will be fined $1.00 per minute until they arrive. This fine will be increased to $3.00 per minute after three (3) offenses. LATE PICK UP ON EARLY RELEASE DAYS Early release days happen four times per year at SoulShine. Two early-release days are devoted to Student Reflections, and the other two are used for Staff Training. On early-release days, SoulShine Preschool closes at 3:30. A tardy fine of $25 will be charged for any child picked up between 3:30 and 3:45. If it’s after 3:45, the tardy fine will be $75. DROP-OFF TIME VIOLATIONS Drop-off times are not suggestions for parents; they are requirements for parents to respect so that the daily routine is not disrupted for an entire classroom. We can accommodate the occasional need, but not without notice. Any parent/guardian who fails to notify us of a late arrival during a restricted time period will be assessed a $25 fine per occurrence.
- 07With the exception of diaper rash creams, SoulShine’s staff will not administer medication to include over the counter, unless the medication is accompanied by a prescription and/or a doctor’s note. No prescription medication will be dispensed to a child without detailed, written instructions from the child’s parent/guardian. The written instructions should include the child’s full name, the date, the medication name, the dosage, the time of day the medication should be given, any other specific instructions and the parent/guardian’s signature. The medication must be in the original container. SoulShiners are responsible for storing their own medication – in a plastic bag, within their backpack. The Director will notify the student when it is time to retrieve the medication and will watch that the medication has been taken properly.
- 08School Parents play a vital role in the SoulShine community. School Parents assist the site directors with communicating with other classrooms’ school parents on matters such as birthdays, births, bereavements and other life events. The School Parent will have access to parent contacts and teacher favorite documents. If you’d like to volunteer as a School Parent, please contact your child's site director for more information.
- 09All staff members are trained on safety rules, special hazards, and commonly occurring accidents. They receive detailed instructions on evacuation procedures for fire and storm, the use of fire extinguishers, and how to report an accident. All staff members are trained in CPR and pediatric first aid. The children are under adult supervision at all times. Written procedures for fire and storm evacuation are posted in each classroom and are practiced monthly with the children.
- 10SoulShine strives to provide a teacher to child ratio that exceeds Bright From the Start requirements. When that is not possible, SoulShine will never violate Bright From the Start ratio policy.
